Wide Slab Flooring at Thomas Gainsborough Academy

Flood Precast recently solved a concrete flooring issue by installing their trademark wide slab flooring product, Super Wideslab® at Thomas Gainsborough Academy, Sudbury UK, part of the East of England building schools for the future framework.

Concrete Flooring Issues 

A live school site in densely populated neighbourhood. this was a 5 week site programme. Fitting precast through completed 4 storey steel frame. Exposed precast concrete required great care in handling.

 

Key Project Issues Solved by Flood Precast  

Completed the precast within a very tight programme. Provided a class B soffit finish on slab soffits and stairs suitable for direct decoration to accommodate natural cooling through thermal mass while also reducing propping requirements. Assisted with propping design and requirements. Coordinated with steel frame erectors. Provided  2.4m wide slab planks.

Wide Slab Flooring and Exposed Concrete Stairs         

8800 sq m of 100mm deep Super Wideslab® with exposed soffits suitable for direct decoration. 3no 3 story stair cores with exposed concrete stair flights and landings. 83 no 45’ artic loads of precast concrete.
