Project Information: Malt Yard, Woodbridge, Ipswich
The Malt Yard is a development of 29 one and two bedroom apartments built on the site of an old malt house and takes its design inspiration from the nearby quayside buildings on the picturesque River Deben.
Acoustic Requirements:
As the development is residential, to comply with the acoustic building regulations a high density Hollowcore plank was required in 150mm & 200 thickness totalling around 2500 m2 over three floors.
Flood Super Wideslab®
The corridors were covered with 100mm Flood Super Wideslab® allowing services to be run down them between the planks & the suspended ceiling.
Waterproofing:
The development also has outdoor walkways, balconies & some areas of flat roofs. In these areas a solid slab with a smooth top surface was used so that the waterproof membrane could be bonded to the concrete with minimal preparation to the surfaces.
Smooth Finish:
Precast stairs were finished with a high quality type B finish so no need to plaster over the soffits saving on finishing costs.
