Suburban City Dwellings

Fire impedance:

Concrete is incombustible and precast floors and stairs provide greater fire resistance than that of other materials.

Sound insulation:

When Flood precast is used at first floor, noise can be greatly reduced between floors. The solid slab and screed give a much better insulation than the alternative hollow core slabs. The opportunity is also there to allow for block walls to be built off the floor, further improving sound insulation between rooms. No more squeaking floor boards or noise from upstairs bedrooms!

Flexibility of design:

Greater spans can be achieved using precast concrete over timber floors. This may reduce the number of load bearing walls and their foundations and give greater flexibility to the designer to alter the internal wall layouts. Structural steel supports around stairs can sometimes be eliminated.

Thermal Advantages:

Flood Super Wideslab® concrete floors, due to their mass act like a storage heater. Alternative flooring lets air through the cores, cooling the floors down. When your central heating is on, your concrete floor will absorb some of this heat and slowly release it back into your home. This should help in reducing your heating bills. Our system is suitable for use with all underground heating systems.

Quality:

This is a prime concern for the builder and more importantly the homeowner. Attributes such as strength and durability of a concrete floor will add to the overall quality of the house.
