Precast Concrete Stairs for Sustainable Homes Efficiency Ratings.

The Flood Precast design team worked together so that the houses will achieve a Code for Sustainable Homes efficiency ratings of Level 3 and Level 4 for the flats. The new homes will also have energy-saving features to keep residents’ running costs and fuel bills down.

Sustainability is an increasingly important issue in today’s construction projects. Flood Precast provided precast concrete stairs for this development.

Precast concrete a green building material – Extremely Durable

Durability – Unlike other construction materials precast concrete stairs doesn’t rust, rot or degrade in presences of moisture.

High Standard of Quality – Made at our plant in Ireland with Quality Control Measure such as I.S EN ISO 9001:2008

Energy-Efficient – The thermal mass of precast concrete absorbs and releases heat slowly, shifting air conditioning and heating loads to allow smaller, more efficient heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems

This development contains 36 affordable and 24 shared ownership homes close to Reading Town Centre. This is part of a much larger development which will see another 132 homes for the open market.

The development is being constructed on a 6.2 acre brownfield, former gas works site east of Reading town centre. It’s close to the River Kennet and a short walk to the town centre.
