We’ve just put the lid on a 6,000 cubic meter storm water tank in Chorley, Manchester.
We won the project by devising a Value Engineered solution which we developed with Ian Cripps, Project Manager and his team at Balfour Beatty.
The Requirement
The design criteria for the project called for an 8.5m span to carry HA loading with a Concrete exposure class of XC4. Engineers, Byrne Looby Partners were very proactive in the design development and their requirement for 80mm cover to main reinforcement was met by introducing additional reinforcement under the 12.5mm prestressed strands.
The 350mm deep solid precast prestressed units weighed 8.5 Tonnes each and were delivered in a predetermined sequence for fitting over a three day period.
In the words of our Customer “The design interface and communication were excellent, the pre-agreed delivery sequencing was key to the completion of a very tight program. From the onset Flood Precast worked closely and proactively with the project team to ensure a strong technical, high quality and economical solution”.
