Achieving Sustainability with Precast Concrete

Precast Concrete construction is faster, stronger, more fire resistant and has a higher sound control, which achieves more sustainability that traditional construction methods.

Precast concrete is sustainable. Precast Concrete is capable of higher strength which allows for long clear spans making it especially applicable to structures requiring large open spaces.

  • it is extremely durable.
  • Resistant to Natural Disasters.
  • Weather Resistance.
  • Environmental Protection
  • Energy Use in Building (conservation)

Precast concrete floors can be used for ground floors over sloping or made-up ground where in-situ slabs may not be economic, and for upper floors where fire-resisting and sound insulating construction is required.

There are other advantages

Timelines: Off-site production shortens project time, allowing family homes to be occupied earlier.

Strength: Precast Concrete is capable of higher strength which allows for long clear spans making it especially applicable to structures requiring large open spaces.

Superior Finishes: Precast concrete can achieve these finishes through a controlled manufacturing environment.

Quality: This is a prime concern for the builder and more importantly the This is a prime concern for the builder and more importantly the home-owner. Attributes such as strength and durability of a concrete floor will add to the overall quality of the house.

Flexibility of design: Greater spans can be achieved using precast concrete over timber floors. This may reduce the number of load bearing walls and their foundations and give greater flexibility to the designer to alter the internal wall layouts. Structural steel supports around stairs can sometimes be eliminated.
