Precast concrete elements designed for Lidl Development in Castleknock

Flood Precast provides precast concrete elements for this project 1400m2 of 150mm Hollowcore, 300m2 of 200mm Hollowcore and 23no Precast Stairs.

Lidl Castleknock is located in the middle of Castleknock village. The development will feature a flagship Lidl store, eight retail units, a medical centre and apartments. The design will incorporate a new street, spacious public realm, bicycle parking and attractive spaces for socialising. A total of 98 commercial car parking are available, with a further 15 residential spaces.

This development has created 60 new jobs made up of 30 permanent positions in the Lidl store with the medical centre and retail units expected to employ a further 30. There were 100 construction jobs created during the building phase.

Precast floors, and in particular hollowcore floors, offer many advantages over other flooring construction methods, such as in-situ, metal deck and timber. Prestressed hollowcore floors have longitudinal cores of which the primary purpose is to reduce the weight of the floor. The precast concrete elements are available at different depths to satisfy the various performance needs for span and loading

The units themselves are manufactured at a width of 1200mm and depths of 150, 200, 250, and 300mm. See Span/Load Tables for full details
