Flood Precast provided their trademark wide slab flooring product, Flood Super Wideslab® for the precast floors for 4 schools as part of the NDFA Bundle 3 Schools Project in Ireland.
The schools involved in this phase of the project – Nagle Rice, Milltown, Co.Kerry, Milltown Presentation School, Milltown, Co. Kerry, Midleton CBS, Midleton, Co. Cork and Galvone School, Limerick City.
These schools were awarded to the one contractor JJ Rhatigan and they are on a tight programme all schools must be open for September 2015.
Key project issues solved using Wide slab
The wideslab flooring eliminated sections of insitu floors which could not be done using hollowcore. Flood Super Wideslab® units are 2.4 meters wide as opposed to 1.2m therefore reducing the fitting time on site by 50%. The wide slab provided a high quality soffit allowing the contractor to leave the soffit exposed in areas where no suspended ceiling was required.
100mm Wide slab Flooring
Flood Precast supplied 100mm wide slab flooring with a 125mm structural. The screed was placed by the main contractor. We also supplied precast Stairs with a high quality finish.
The job was phased out over 2 months as the 4 different schools were running concurrently. We fitted 600 sq.m of wide slab per delivery along with approx 4 stairs. We programmed in to have 18 days fitting on site on all four schools and this is currently on target.
