Innovative Product Design for the City Quay MSCP, Belfast
At Flood Precast we’re delighted to be involved with the development of the City Quay MSCP, Belfast. Our design and engineering teams were impressive, working to develop a new innovative type of L-Walls and supporting angles for the installation. Our design team used BIM Technology. Using Tekla 3D modelling software we are able to visually see how our products sat within the whole structure. Using this 3D model there was a clear picture of the installation, and how our products needing to travel down the steel structure into their fitted position on each level.
Our installation crews worked brilliantly and professionally fitting our walls and floors on each of the levels as the structure was extremely tight they needed to negotiate through each level of structure. The overall timeline for the project was tight. However, there was a steady progression up each level until the end so praise must be put upon our transport and installation departments.
Flood Precast was appointed by Belfast based Felix O’Hare to design, manufacture and install 21000m2 of Wideslab/L-Walls and 35no precast stairs for the City Quay Belfast multi-story car-park. The multi-story car-park was built as a steel frame and the turn-around on the installation of each floor had a tight timeline. The project was a multi-storey car-park building comprising of approximately 900 spaces across 18 split-levels. Felix O’Hare was appointed as the contractor for the £18million project, which is the key part of the overall City Quays masterplan. City Quays is Belfast’s newest and most modern mixed-use regeneration project, providing commercial offices in City Quays 1 and City Quays 2, shops, cafes, restaurants and other local services and the new AC Hotel by Marriott Belfast right on Belfast’s waterfront.
